A minor earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded at 3:23 p.m. on Friday, July 11, on the island of Kefalonia in the Ionian Sea.
According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter was located 3 kilometers northeast of the capital, Argostoli, with a focal depth of 18.4 kilometers. The tremor was reportedly felt across the island.
This is the second earthquake recorded near the Ionian island in less than a week. Four days ago, a magnitude 4.1 tremor occurred in the vicinity of Kefalonia. That earlier quake had its epicenter 74 kilometers west-southwest of Volimes, Zakynthos, with a depth of 10.5 kilometers, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute.
