A warm spell is on the way, bringing a significant rise in temperatures, with some areas expected to reach as high as 28°C next week.

According to meteorologists, temperatures in the coming days will be on an upward trend, with 26-28°C expected in parts of eastern mainland Greece and northern Crete.

The dominant weather patterns next week will include warm temperatures, African dust, and widespread sea fog, with minimal rainfall expected.

The European weather map reveals a clear split, with cold and stormy conditions over western and northern Europe, while eastern and southern regions, including Greece, will experience much warmer weather. The high temperatures will facilitate the transport of African dust toward Greece.

Sunday’s Weather

Expect mostly clear skies throughout Greece, with temporary cloud cover in southwestern regions, the Cyclades, Crete, the eastern Aegean islands, and the Dodecanese until midday.

During the morning and evening hours, visibility may be reduced in western Greece and the eastern Aegean due to fog.

Winds will be light and variable (2-3 Beaufort) in the west, turning southeasterly (3-4 Beaufort) by midday. In the east, northerly winds (3-4 Beaufort) will shift to southerly by the evening.

Temperatures will remain stable, reaching 18-20°C in most areas.

Outlook for the Week Ahead

On Monday, temperatures will remain above seasonal averages, peaking at 22°C. Western Greece will see increasing cloud cover, with a chance of light rain in the Ionian, Epirus, and western mainland regions. Elsewhere, thin clouds will thicken throughout the afternoon, particularly over the mainland, the northern Aegean, and the Cyclades by nightfall.

On Tuesday, a slight temperature increase is expected. However, morning and evening fog will continue to affect inland areas, and African dust will start moving into western Greece.

By Wednesday, temperatures will rise further, with more African dust affecting western and southern parts of the country.
