Athens commuters are set to face disruptions on Wednesday, 17 December, as bus drivers stage a six-hour work stoppage from 11:00 to 17:00. The action was announced by the Athens Urban Transport Workers’ Union, which is holding its general assembly on the same day.

According to the union, the final morning routes will run shortly before 10:00 a.m., with services expected to be gradually restored after 18:00. Commuters are advised to anticipate delays as buses return to normal schedules.

Services on regional bus lines operating in East and West Attica are expected to run as usual and will not be affected by the stoppage.

The temporary suspension is part of the union’s scheduled internal procedures and not linked to wider industrial action, but it is still expected to cause significant inconvenience during the midday and afternoon hours.
