New developments have emerged in the case of a woman secretly buried by her daughter in a stable in central Greece. The 62-year-old daughter admitted to concealing her mother’s death to continue collecting her pension.

According to her testimony, the 91-year-old mother died in 2023 of natural causes. Facing financial hardship, the daughter chose not to report the death, instead burying her mother near the family property.

Authorities recently received the findings of a forensic anthropologist who examined the skeletal remains. The specialist reported no signs of violence or trauma. The hyoid bone—commonly analyzed in cases of suspected strangulation—was found intact, and no injuries were detected on the skeleton.

However, the examination could not establish an exact time of death. The anthropologist concluded that the woman likely died sometime between 2021 and 2023. The daughter herself claimed she buried her mother in August 2023.

Investigators note that testimony from locals, combined with pension and official records, has not been able to determine precisely when the 91-year-old was last seen alive. The case remains open as judicial authorities review the anthropological report and consider further steps.
