The Greek Ministry of Tourism approved a plan to create an underwater recreation site in the Delphi municipality.

The proposal, tabled by the Delphi council, aims to leverage the natural coastal beauty within the administrative limits of the municipality in an effort to expand tourism growth in the historic town by focusing on diving tourism.

Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni signed the inclusion of the investment project titled “Creation of an Underwater Attraction in the Municipality of Delphi” under the subproject “Diving and Underwater Tourism” of the “Tourism Development” Action within the Recovery and Resilience Fund, which is co-financed by the European Union.

The investment project, which will be located in the Agios Minas area of the Municipal Unit of Desfina, has been approved for funding of €221,612.51, according to the minister’s decision.

The funding will cover expenses related to the construction, expansion, and modernization of underwater facilities; the procurement of equipment; training and consulting services; project studies; and promotion activities.

On the occasion of the project’s approval for funding, Delphi Mayor Panagiotis Tagalis stated:
“This development represents an important step toward implementing one of the most significant initiatives we have designed to enhance the region’s tourism offering, creating a new attraction for visitors.”
