Authorities in Thessaloniki are investigating a complaint involving a 17-year-old girl with disabilities who was allegedly left alone on a transport bus for nearly two hours after staff failed to notice she had not disembarked.
According to the complaint filed by the teenager’s 52-year-old mother, the incident involved a day care and support center for people with disabilities in eastern Thessaloniki.
The mother told police that her daughter boarded the facility’s bus as scheduled in order to travel to her destination. However, staff members allegedly failed to ensure that she got off at the designated transfer point, where she was supposed to board a second bus.
As a result, the teenager reportedly remained inside the vehicle for around two hours without being noticed by escorts or transport staff.
The mother became concerned after realizing her daughter had not arrived at her destination and subsequently contacted police. She later filed a formal complaint against the employees involved.
