Greek authorities detained a suspect on Tuesday in connection with an attempted arson in the Drosia area, near Kifissia in nothern Attica.

A makeshift incendiary device, consisting of small bottles, was discovered by a local resident earlier this month. Forensic analysis later revealed fingerprints on the device linking it to a 26-year-old Albanian man with a prior criminal record, including weapons-related offenses.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, which comes amid growing concerns over public safety in the area.

The inspections come at a time when Greece is battling wildfires across the mainland and islands. On Wednesday alone 109 fires were reported.
