Two people have been injured in separate fox attacks at Agiokampos beach in the Larissa region of central Greece, raising concerns among residents and visitors.
The first incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 18, when a woman at the beach was attacked and bitten by a fox. She was taken to Larissa University Hospital, where she received medical care and a rabies vaccine as a precaution.
A second incident followed the next evening, on Sunday, July 19, when a 17-year-old girl was bitten by a fox in the same area. She was also taken to hospital, where she received treatment and preventive anti-rabies medication.
Authorities seek answers after unusual incidents
Local authorities said they are unable to explain the repeated attacks, noting that foxes rarely approach humans.
Following the incidents, officials have contacted specialists to receive guidance on how to manage the situation and protect residents and visitors in the area.
