A two and a half year old boy visiting Mykonos from Germany was rushed to Paidon Children’s Hospital after wandering away from his father and falling into a swimming pool, according to initial reports.
The child was pulled from the water quickly, but had already swallowed a large amount of water. First responders administered emergency treatment at the scene before he was transferred to the Athens -based hospital for further observation and medical evaluation.
Doctors are closely monitoring the boy’s condition in order to rule out complications from the near drowning. His current medical status has not been released.
Greek authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the child being left unsupervised near the pool, a standard procedure in cases involving injury to a minor.
