Monday’s weather is rolling in with a bit of drama and a whole lot of cloud cover. It starts off innocently enough with scattered clouds, but don’t let that fool you — by midday, the sky turns serious. Thunderstorms and local showers are expected to pop up across much of the country, especially in the Ionian Sea, on the mainland, and even in Crete.
Temperatures will behave themselves, sticking close to seasonal norms — mild in the north, comfortably warm in central regions, and just shy of toasty in the south. But while the mercury plays it safe, the atmosphere gets a bit dusty, especially in western and southern Greece, where Saharan dust concentrations will increase steadily throughout the day.
Temperature outlook:
- Western Macedonia: 8–21°C
- Rest of Macedonia & Thrace: 12–25°C
- Thessaly: 14–27°C
- Epirus: 9–23°C
- Central Greece: 12–26°C
- Peloponnese: 10–23°C
- Ionian Islands: 11–22°C
- Aegean Islands: 12–26°C (Cyclades cooler at 13–21°C)
- Crete: 12–24°C
Winds will be mostly gentle, up to 5 Beaufort in the South Aegean, blowing from various directions. The Ionian sees a shift to northwesterlies after midday, while the rest of the Aegean plays musical chairs with light breezes from the west, northwest, and beyond.
In Athens, expect increasing clouds and a haze of dust after lunch. Winds turn from north to south through the day, and temperatures will climb from 16 to a pleasant 26°C.
In Thessaloniki, cloud cover dominates, with passing showers and a possible thunderstorm in the mix. Winds start off from the north but could briefly turn southerly by the afternoon. Highs near 25°C.
