A wildfire caused by lightning erupted on Monday in a forested area in the municipality of Megaloupoli (Arcadia prefecture in the central Peloponnese) and specifically between the sites Anemodourio and Marmarias.
Thirty-seven fire-fighters were battling the blaze before dusk, operating 10 vehicles and aided by three water-dropping planes.
The blaze was burning in a remote and rugged area and far from any settlement.

Similarly, a fire rural fire probably caused by a lightning strike erupted on Monday afternoon near the Kerasohori village of Filiatra municipality in Thesprotia prefecture of extreme northwest Greece.

Twenty-two fire-fighters were dispatched to the scene, along with five vehicles.
