A group of Greek students and recent graduates is breathing new life into the ancient Panathenaea (or Panathenaia) festival by launching a modern innovation festival in Athens from May 7 to May 9.
In antiquity, the Panathenea was a multifaceted public celebration—a convergence of art, sports, and civic dialogue that symbolized the creative and collective spirit of the city. Drawing inspiration from this rich heritage, the modern Panathenea aims to channel that same energy while keeping a clear focus on the future.
Designed for founders, investors, young visionaries, and pioneers committed to building a better world, the Panathenea seeks to unite three core ecosystems: technology, culture, and entrepreneurship. Over the course of three days, attendees will experience an immersive environment brimming with knowledge, networking, and vibrant energy—a dynamic meeting ground where ideas are meant to flourish.
Athens will host a range of activities including keynote speeches, exhibitions, startup competitions, workshops, and presentations. The Panathenea will “unfold” across the city, featuring parallel events that bring together top venture capitalists and startup incubators, creating unique experiences and networking opportunities.
The student-led initiative, backed by an advisory team of international investors, entrepreneurs, and market experts, aims to empower the next generation and strengthen Greece’s innovation ecosystem.
In alignment with this mission, the National Bank of Greece, under its strategic commitment to promoting innovation and enhancing outward-looking growth, joins Panathēnea as a Founding Partner, actively supporting the festival’s vision.
