Μake us preferred on Google The former wife of a 38-year-old man seriously wounded in a shooting in Drosia, northeast of Athens proper last September, was arrested inside a courtroom Monday shortly before she was due to testify in the case.
The woman, a Romanian national, had previously been married to the victim and later entered a relationship with a 29-year-old man accused of carrying out the shooting. A separate complaint had been filed against her alleging that she was the moral instigator of the attack.
Police officers entered the courtroom and asked the woman to accompany them as she was preparing to testify as a witness. Her arrest followed the execution of the outstanding complaint, according to a lawyer representing the victim’s family.
The woman denies any involvement in the attack and has previously said that attempts were being made to implicate her deliberately to prevent the real circumstances behind the shooting from being uncovered. She has said she neither knew about the attack nor encouraged or instigated it.
The shooting took place on Sept. 30, 2025, when the attacker allegedly waited in the garden of the victim’s home and opened fire at close range as the 38-year-old emerged from the residence. He was left seriously wounded and remains hospitalized, according to reports.
The victim identified the alleged gunman as his former wife’s partner.
Three 9mm shell casings were found at the scene. The 29-year-old initially denied involvement, claiming he had been working in a restaurant kitchen on the island of Zakynthos at the time, but later admitted the shooting and was remanded in custody.
