Greece is in for a spell of unpredictable weather from Thursday through Sunday, with meteorologists warning of widespread showers, thunderstorms, and fluctuating temperatures across much of the country.

In Athens and Thessaloniki, residents should prepare for intermittent rain and possible storms, particularly during the afternoons. Thursday’s forecast for the Attica region includes scattered showers around noon, light winds, and daytime highs reaching 26°C.

According to meteorologist Giannis Kallianos, scattered rain and thunderstorms will affect central and northern mainland areas, from the Peloponnese to Macedonia, with weather conditions expected to shift rapidly throughout the day.

Meanwhile, fairer weather is expected in the Sporades, Aegean islands, and Thrace, where skies will remain partly clear with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 26°C, accompanied by 3 to 5 Beaufort winds.

Weekend Outlook: Persistent Showers and Cooler Conditions

On Friday, the unsettled pattern continues, with showers expected to persist, slightly cooler temperatures dropping to around 23°C and winds strengthening to 4-6 Beaufort.

By Saturday, rain and local storms will spread further, affecting both the mainland and Crete, with afternoon showers likely in the Sporades, Evia, and gradually in the northeastern Aegean. Temperatures will hover between 22°C and 25°C, with mild southerly winds.

Morning fog is also expected to limit visibility in western regions.

Looking ahead to Sunday, April 27, cloud cover will increase across Greece. Local rains and storms are forecast in the eastern mainland, Sporades, and Evia. A notable dip in temperatures is also anticipated to wrap up the weekend.
