On Friday, July 31, weather conditions will remain generally clear and sunny, with only brief cloud development over northern mountainous areas and northern Crete.
Northerly to northeasterly winds will blow at 3 to 5 Beaufort, locally reaching 6 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea. Across the Aegean, winds will strengthen to 7 to 8 Beaufort, with localized gusts reaching 9 Beaufort.
Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged. Western mainland areas will see the highest temperatures, reaching 99-100°F (37-38°C). Most other mainland regions, the Ionian Islands, the southeastern Aegean, and southern Crete will experience highs of 90-95°F (32-35°C), while the remaining islands will range between 84-88°F (29-31°C).
Athens and Thessaloniki Forecast
Athens is expected to remain sunny throughout the day, with temperatures ranging from 70°F to 90°F (21°C to 32°C). Eastern and northern parts of the region will be 2 to 3 degrees Celsius cooler. Northerly to northeasterly winds will reach 5 to 7 Beaufort, locally 8 Beaufort, with brief gusts of up to 9 Beaufort in eastern areas.
Thessaloniki will also enjoy clear skies, with temperatures between 70°F and 93°F (21°C to 34°C). Winds will be light, blowing from the southeast at 2 to 4 Beaufort.
Weekend Outlook
On Saturday, August 1, sunny weather will continue nationwide, with only isolated temporary clouds over eastern mainland Greece and Crete. The meltemi winds will gradually weaken, although gusts of up to 8 Beaufort are still expected in parts of the Aegean during the morning before easing later in the day.
Temperatures will remain stable, with western mainland areas and parts of northern Greece reaching 97-100°F (36-38°C). Elsewhere, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 90°F and 93°F (32-34°C).
On Sunday, August 2, summer conditions will persist with widespread sunshine and only isolated cloud cover in eastern mainland areas and Crete. Winds in the Aegean will weaken slightly but remain strong at 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally 7 Beaufort, with brief morning gusts reaching 8 Beaufort in the northern Aegean.
