The 2.5-year-old girl is remains in critical condition after accidentally falling into a fountain in a public square in Kallithea, Athens, in February and remaining submerged for several minutes.

Despite the life-saving intervention, prolonged oxygen deprivation caused severe damage. Today, Stella has lost both her sight and hearing and is unable to move. Doctors emphasize that her condition requires continuous medical care and specialized treatments.

The need for daily physiotherapy sessions and ongoing medical monitoring is urgent. At the same time, she requires an immediately specially adapted wheelchair, as standard strollers cannot properly support her body.

Her family is living through what they describe as a nightmare and is now appealing for public assistance through the volunteer charitable organization “Care for the Child” (Frodida tou Paidiou), as the medical needs of the child are immense.

Stella’s parents are in a devastating psychological state, facing daily pain and uncertainty. Despite the grim medical outlook, they are trying to secure every possible form of assistance to keep hope alive.

“No family should ever feel alone in such an unbearable ordeal. Even the smallest contribution can become a breath of life for this child,” the volunteer organization “Care for the Child” stated.

The incident took place on February 8, during Carnival celebrations. In the crowd, little Stella briefly slipped out of her parents’ attention for just a few seconds. Her father found her shortly afterward unconscious inside the square’s fountain.

Panic broke out at the scene. Passersby, officers from the DIAS motorcycle police unit (Greece’s rapid-response police force), and a café worker rushed to provide first aid, performing CPR. The child was immediately transferred to the children’s hospital “Aglaia Kyriakou,” where doctors fought for 45 minutes in an extraordinary effort to restart her heart.
