Two 23-year-old men have been arrested on the Greek island of Mykonos on suspicion of jointly trafficking drugs, police said Tuesday.
The suspects, a Greek national and a foreign national, were arrested Monday, Aug. 10, following an investigation by the Mykonos Police Subdivision.
Authorities said the two men had been using motorcycles since mid-July to distribute significant quantities of drugs to users in exchange for illegal financial gain.
After investigators identified their alleged method of operation through surveillance and the evaluation of information, police organized a targeted operation to stop the activity.
The two suspects were located separately on Monday afternoon. Police then searched a residence they allegedly used as a drug stash house, as well as their vehicles.
Drugs and cash seized
According to police, officers found and seized a total of 4.4 kilograms of raw cannabis, 688 grams of cocaine and €21,800 in cash.
The seized items included:
- 4,404 grams of raw cannabis in six packages
- 540 grams of cocaine in three packages
- 211.7 grams of raw cannabis in 43 small packages prepared for distribution
- 78 grams of pink cocaine in 11 small packages prepared for distribution
- 69.8 grams of cocaine in 63 small packages prepared for distribution
- €21,800 in cash
- Two mobile phones
- A precision scale
Police also seized the two motorcycles allegedly used in the operation, along with the drugs, cash and other evidence.
A felony-level case file has been filed against the two suspects for joint drug trafficking.
The two men are expected to be brought before the Prosecutor’s Office in Syros.
Police said the case was part of specialized operations carried out by police services in Greece’s South Aegean region to combat the spread of drugs.
