Greek police have arrested a 68-year-old woman who had been wanted in connection with a large-scale property fraud case involving more than €272,000.
The woman was detained in the Athens suburb of Agios Dimitrios by officers from the Attica Crime Investigation Department’s fugitive search unit. Authorities said an outstanding court ruling had sentenced her to 11 years in prison for complicity in fraud.
According to police, the woman and two accomplices allegedly deceived a citizen by falsely presenting themselves as the owners of a plot of land that actually belonged to the municipality of Ilioupoli, near Athens.
Investigators said the suspects managed to obtain more than €270,000 from the victim under the pretense of a property sale.
Following her arrest, the woman was taken before the competent prosecutorial authorities for further legal procedures.
