The Greek men’s national basketball team clinched third spot in the EuroBasket 2025 after defeating Finland (92-89) in a thriller that went down to the wire.

The blue and white squad returned to the medals for the first time since 2009 in Poland, ending a 16-year drought. Vassilis Spanoulis’ side led from the start, neutralized Finland’s offensive weapons, and secured a landmark victory.

NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated on both ends of the court with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Point guards Vassilis Toliopoulos and Tyler Dorsey were a strong supporting cast to the Greek Freak, putting up 20 and 15 points, respectively.

While Greece seemed in control for most of the game, opening up a margin of 15+ points in the final quarter, personal errors, coupled with Finland’s defensive pressure, led to the cushion dissipating.
