Μake us preferred on Google Young Greek striker Giannis Konstantelias has shared his first photo following surgery to repair the serious left-knee injury he suffered in Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga opener against Hamburger SV last week.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who transferred from PAOK Thessaloniki before the start of the season, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Dortmund’s 2-0 victory over Hamburg on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season. The injury is expected to keep him sidelined for several months. German sports media reported that Konstantelias twisted his knee in a challenge with Bakery Jatta shortly after halftime. He had scored Dortmund’s second goal before the injury.
Orthopedic knee surgeon Thore Zantop, who performed the procedure, posted a photo on his Instagram account showing himself alongside the Greek international at a clinic.
Zantop is an internationally recognized specialist in arthroscopic knee surgery, with particular expertise in anterior and posterior cruciate ligament injuries and the treatment of professional athletes, according to German media.
