The local community of Aigio remains in shock following the double homicide of a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son, who were found dead in their home in Longos, near Aigio earlier this week. At the center of the investigation is the woman’s 65-year-old Italian partner, who has been charged in connection with the crime and is scheduled to testify before an investigating judge on Friday.

He was taken back to the crime scene on Thursday for a supplementary on-site investigation after a prosecutor’s order.

According to information, the 65-year-old is reported to have given multiple and contradictory statements, while his insistence that the mother and son had a strained relationship has raised particular concern among investigators.

According to reports, the suspect continues to claim that the mother and son had a hostile relationship and that one may have killed the other following a dispute. However, the evidence gathered so far does not support this scenario. The 26-year-old victim shows no signs of struggle, unlike the 65-year-old, who has scratches on his hands, while biological material has been found under the fingernails of the 54-year-old that has not yet been identified.

Police are hoping to extract critical data from the 54-year-old woman’s mobile phone, which was located on Thursday. At the same time, they are attempting to unlock and analyze the 26-year-old’s iPhone, seeking evidence that could shed light on the events of the fatal night.

Regarding the murder weapon, a knife found beneath the body of the 54-year-old with no fingerprints, forensic experts said that it is possible the large amount of blood may have covered any traces. However, they did not rule out the possibility that the perpetrator washed the knife and placed it under the victim’s body, suggesting they may have had time to act calmly after the crime.

They emphasized that the results of the biological material found under the victim’s fingernails are of crucial importance, noting that they could prove decisive in identifying the perpetrator.

Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou, said that DNA analysis is expected from samples taken from both victims—the 54-year-old mother and her 26-year-old son—as well as from the 65-year-old suspect.

“The examination has been conducted on samples taken from the two bodies and from the accused himself. We will see whether DNA is found and whether it matches the two victims, as well as the material on the bodies. It is a very important finding for the investigation going forward,” she said.

“The cameras have helped us rule out the presence of any other person. So we are led to the conclusion that this is the only person who was inside the house when these people died. Therefore, it could not have been anyone else.”

DNA test results are expected within the day.
