@united_states_edit📰 Mass displacement movement in Sidon, southern Lebanon — 📌 Details – After intense Israeli attacks on the south of Lebanon, a mass movement of the population from Sidon towards safer areas was recorded. – Hundreds of families left their homes, creating long lines of vehicles and pedestrians on the roads leading to Beirut and the north of the country. – Humanitarian organizations warn of the lack of shelter, food and medical aid for the displaced. — 📌 Context – Sidon is the third largest city in Lebanon and has strategic importance due to its position on the coast and proximity to the southern fronts. – Israeli raids hit military positions and weapons warehouses, but at the same time caused great destruction in civilian areas. – The Lebanese authorities warn of a humanitarian crisis, while the international community calls for restraint and protection of civilians. — 📌 Analysis – Geopolitical effect: the mass exodus from Sidon shows that the conflict has direct consequences on civilians, not only on the military infrastructure. – Message to the public: Israeli sources claim that the targets were military targets, while Lebanese media emphasize civilian casualties and destruction. – Risk: the continuation of raids may lead to long-term consequences for Lebanon’s stability and increase pressure on international actors. — 📌 Conclusion Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon have sparked a massive displacement movement from Sidon, underlining that the conflict is moving into a humanitarian dimension with serious consequences for civilians and regional stability.♬ izvorni zvuk – UNITED_STATES

The Israeli army conducted air strikes throughout Lebanon starting Monday, in response to rockets fired by Hezbollah late Sunday, which were themselves a reaction to U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran.

“Conservative estimates suggest that nearly 30,000 people were hosted and registered at collective shelters,” UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch said as reported in Reuters. He added that many more have slept in cars or remain stranded in traffic jams due to the sudden displacement.

So far, 21 shelters have been opened by the Lebanese government, supported by the U.N. World Food Program, to accommodate those affected. The UNHCR is also preparing contingency plans in case more people are displaced, including Syrian refugees returning to Syria amid the turmoil. Lebanon already hosts around 1.5 million Syrians, making it the country with the highest per-capita refugee population in the world.
