A major scandal has erupted at the BBC, leading to the resignation of two of its top executives — Director-General Tim Davie and BBC News CEO Deborah Turness — following accusations that a Trump speech was deceptively edited in a program aired just before the 2024 U.S. election.

The controversy centers on an episode of BBC Panorama titled “Trump: A Second Chance?”, which included a segment of Donald Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech. According to an investigation by the Telegraph, parts of the speech were spliced together to make it appear that Trump had said, “We will walk to the Capitol, and I will be with you, and we will fight. We will fight like hell.”

However, the phrases reportedly came from different sections of the speech nearly an hour apart, and the documentary omitted Trump’s call for his supporters to “express their voices peacefully and patriotically.”

The BBC’s chairman, Samir Shah, is expected to issue a formal apology as public criticism mounts and questions grow about editorial oversight within the broadcaster. The revelations have shaken confidence in one of the world’s most respected news organizations, just days after its leadership departures were confirmed.

Trump’s Furious Reaction

The U.S. president lashed out on his Truth Social platform, accusing the BBC of deliberate manipulation and bias.
