Greece will experience a mix of rain, thunderstorms, dust, and heat on Saturday, May 10, as a wave of unstable weather moves across the mainland. While northern and central regions will see the brunt of the storms, Athens is expected to face high temperatures and dusty skies, with a chance of localized afternoon showers.
In Attica, the day will start mostly clear but become cloudier by midday. Local rain or isolated thunderstorms are possible in northern suburbs in the afternoon. Winds will blow from the north-northeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and dust concentrations in the air will be noticeably high, potentially affecting visibility and air quality. Temperatures in the Athens basin will range from 21°C in the morning to around 30°C in the afternoon.
Elsewhere in the country, rain and thunderstorms are forecast mainly for Macedonia, Thrace, and parts of Thessaly, Central Greece, and the eastern Peloponnese. Some storms may be locally intense, particularly in eastern Macedonia and Thrace during the morning hours, where hail is also possible.
The Aegean islands, Cyclades, and Crete will see scattered clouds with localized morning rain, while the Dodecanese may experience a brief period of southeasterly winds before shifting northward.
Temperatures will range from 20–22°C in the north, 24–26°C in central regions, and up to 29–30°C in the southern islands and Crete. Winds will predominantly be from the north, reaching up to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean and Ionian seas.
Authorities are urging caution in areas expecting storms or reduced air quality due to dust.
