Friday’s weather is bringing a little bit of everything — from sunshine to storms, and a generous sprinkle of Saharan dust just to keep things interesting. Expect temperatures to stay on the warmer side for the season, with a stubborn layer of haze and cloud cover building as the day unfolds.

Across the country, the skies will start off partly cloudy but don’t get too comfortable — clouds will thicken and bring afternoon showers and thunderstorms, especially in the Ionian Sea, the mountainous mainland, and Western Macedonia. Watch out in the Pindus region and higher elevations — there’s a chance for hail. Lowland areas of the mainland might also catch a stray downpour or two. Meanwhile, dust levels will remain high, particularly in the South Aegean and Crete, giving the skies a muted, sepia tone.

Temperature highlights:

  • Western Macedonia: 8–22°C
  • Central/Northern Greece: 12–30°C
  • Ionian Islands: 15–26°C
  • Aegean Islands: 11–27°C
  • Crete: a sizzling 16–34°C

Winds: Mostly light to moderate (up to 5 Beaufort) and shifting throughout the day. Expect a mix of northerlies, southerlies, and local breezes keeping the sailing conditions interesting — especially in the Aegean and Ionian.

Athens will see increasing clouds through the day with a chance of showers after sunset. Dust levels will be noticeable, and temps will hover between 20–28°C.
Thessaloniki shares a similar story, with clouds thickening later and a chance of rain by evening. Highs around 26°C.
