Families looking for fun and educational activities in Athens can find plenty to explore at the Eugenides Foundation New Digital Planetarium, where immersive dome screenings, hands-on science exhibits, and interactive experiences combine entertainment with learning. The venue’s family-friendly program runs through Aug. 30, 2026, with screenings scheduled throughout the year, except during August.
One of the season’s highlights is We Are Stardust, an immersive journey through space and human history. The Planetarium also offers a diverse lineup of digital productions that introduce children and adults to astronomy, Earth science, history, and the natural world.
Visitors can travel back billions of years in The Story of Earth, which traces the planet’s formation and evolution while explaining the natural forces that continue to shape its surface, including earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Voyage through the Galaxy takes audiences across the Milky Way to encounter supernovas, neutron stars, pulsars, black holes, and countless stars and planets.
Marine life takes center stage in The Enchanted Reef, where an underwater world hidden from human discovery is threatened by a volcanic eruption, while The Death of the Dinosaurs explores the leading theory behind the extinction of the dinosaurs and considers whether a similar asteroid impact could threaten Earth in the future.
Several screenings focus on astronomy and humanity’s understanding of the universe. The Centre of the Cosmos follows the scientific discoveries that transformed our view of Earth’s place in space, while Ancient Skies examines how early civilizations studied the heavens. Space Storms & the Polar Aurora introduces audiences to some of the solar system’s most dramatic weather phenomena, from Neptune’s powerful winds to Jupiter’s enormous storms.
Younger children can also enjoy Magic Globe, an adventure that follows a young girl who discovers a mysterious astronomical device capable of changing the seasons.
Beyond the dome theater, visitors can explore the Foundation’s Science and Technology Exhibition, which features 57 interactive exhibits across two floors. The hands-on displays encourage visitors of all ages to conduct experiments, operate scientific equipment, collect data, and discover scientific principles through direct participation.
