Much of Greece has been placed on heightened alert as Storm Agneta brings heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, prompting the National Meteorological Service (EMY) to upgrade its emergency weather bulletin to a warning for dangerous weather conditions.
The severe weather is expected to persist through Tuesday, November 3, with western, northern and eastern island regions facing the greatest impact. Some storms may also bring localized hail and frequent lightning, according to the updated forecast.
A low-pressure system moving east from southern Italy is driving the weather front across Greece.
