Greek Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, heads to Cyprus on Monday, June 16, in the afternoon, to discuss the quickly escalating crisis in the Middle East.
Last week Israel lauched a preemptive attack on Iran, targeting military leaders and nuclear installations in the country, citing concerns that Iran is close to making a nuclear weapon.
Iran responded by launching indiscriminate missiles and drones at Israel.
In Limassol, Dendias will meet with his Cypriot counterpart, Vasilis Palmas, at 18:00.
It is recalled that the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, has requested the convening of the EU Foreign Affairs Council to examine the situation in the region, while also stating that Iran has asked Cyprus to convey a message to Israel.
At 19:30, Mr. Dendias will attend and speak at the presentation of Andreas Chatzikyriakos’ book “Invisible Conspiracy.”
During the book presentation—where the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus will also deliver a greeting—Haris Georgiades, President of the “Glafkos Clerides” Institute, will speak as well.
