Mitsotakis will be accompanied by a delegation of relevant ministers, who will gather near Mt. Penteli for a critical meeting.

Those present at the meeting will be the ministers of Environment and Energy, the Interior, Civil Protection, National Economy and Finance. The Deputy Minister of State Aid and Natural Disaster Recovery will also attend.

The gathering will also include representatives from Managing Authority of the Region of Attica OP as well as the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF), while mayors from the affected municipalities – Penteli, Chalandri, Pallini and Vrilissia – will also take part.

The discussion will center on the findings of recent fire inspections as well as restoration efforts.

Meteo.gr reported that the burned areas had already reached approximately 10,000 hectares after the fire, which began in Varnavas, northeast of Athens, rapidly spreading to multiple regions, including residential areas in the capital. This figure is expected to rise as the fire continues to rage in several scattered locations through Tuesday.

The wildfire in Attica spanned a staggering 23 kilometers, according to a map released by the European Copernicus service.
