Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Ukraine’s historic Black Sea port of Odessa on Wednesday before a scheduled official visit to Romania. According to reports, Mitsotakis will be received by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and hold talks with the latter.

This previously undisclosed trip will come ahead of Mitsotakis’ visit to Bucharest for a two-day conference of the European People’s Party (EPP) grouping in the Romanian capital.

A prospective visit to Odessa comes just a few days after the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine, and aims to underline Athens’ solidarity with the Ukrainian government and people in the conflict with Russia.

Nevertheless, government officials in Athens had still not officially confirmed the reports by noon time.
