A 12-year-old girl was safely rescued after becoming trapped in a manhole in Nafpaktos on Saturday, July 20, sparking concern among residents and passersby. The girl’s leg became wedged inside the opening, leaving her unable to free herself.

Firefighters from the Nafpaktos Fire Service rushed to the scene with three vehicles, led by the service’s commander. After carefully assessing the situation, the firefighters carried out a delicate rescue operation and managed to free the child safely, without causing any further injury.

Immediately after her rescue, the girl was handed over to an ambulance crew from Greece’s National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAV) and taken for precautionary medical checks.

According to updated information, she was subsequently transferred to the Karamandaneio Children’s Hospital in Patras, where she was expected to undergo the necessary medical examinations.
