A 22-year-old woman experienced a terrifying ordeal in central Athens after being followed and attacked by an unidentified man near Lycabettus Hill, one of the city’s most well-known landmarks.

The incident triggered a police response and an ongoing investigation as authorities work to identify and locate the suspect.

Followed Before the Attack

According to information released by local media, the man had been following the young woman for some time before launching the attack.

The suspect allegedly approached her suddenly on Lycabettus Hill and attempted to overpower and restrain her. Despite the shock of the attack, the woman managed to react quickly, pushing him away and breaking free.

Injured While Trying to Escape

As she fled the scene, the 22-year-old attempted to take a shortcut in order to put distance between herself and her attacker. During her escape, she suffered minor injuries after falling.

Despite being hurt, she continued running in an effort to reach safety.

The attacker reportedly continued chasing her as she made her way toward a nearby street.

Resident Steps In

The situation was brought to an end when a local resident noticed what was happening and intervened.

The resident’s actions forced the suspect to abandon the pursuit and flee the area before police arrived.

According to reports, the man escaped in the direction of the Exarchia district and has not yet been located.

Police Investigation Continues

Authorities have launched extensive searches to find the suspect, but no arrests have been made so far.

The case is being investigated by the local crime investigation unit, which is gathering evidence and working to identify the attacker.

While the 22-year-old did not suffer serious physical injuries, she remains deeply shaken by the incident.
