A flight from Edinburgh to Larnaca was forced to make an emergency landing at Thessaloniki’s Macedonia Airport on Saturday after a passenger caused a serious disturbance mid-flight.

According to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA), a foreign national on board refused to follow the crew’s instructions and proceeded to verbally assault both a flight attendant and another passenger, disrupting order in the cabin.

In response to the escalating situation, the pilot requested an emergency landing at the nearest airport. The aircraft touched down safely at Thessaloniki, where airport security and local authorities were waiting.

The passenger was taken into custody immediately upon landing. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
