A new digital platform, PosoKanei.gov.gr, has gone live in Greece, allowing consumers to compare product prices across major supermarket chains and identify more affordable options.

The platform provides access to a database of 7,973 products and includes tools for tracking price history, creating shopping lists and comparing prices with the European Union average.

Consumers can access the service through the PosoKanei.gov.gr website without creating an account or entering personal information.

How PosoKanei works

The platform includes products from a wide range of categories, including food, cleaning supplies, personal care products, paper goods and pet products.

Through the digital service, users can compare prices in real time between major supermarket chains and check where a specific product is available at the lowest price.

The platform also keeps a two-month price history, allowing consumers to check whether a discount reflects a real price reduction or whether the product’s price had previously increased.

Early testing of the service has already shown significant price differences for identical products across stores.

Checking prices while shopping

The platform is designed to help consumers make faster and more informed purchasing decisions. For example, someone inside a supermarket can use their mobile phone to check whether a product’s price is competitive or whether the same item is sold cheaper at another retailer.

A consumer can compare the price of a branded product, such as a package of rice or another basic household item, with the prices offered by other supermarket chains.

The new service was presented by Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos, Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou and Despina Tsangari, head of Greece’s Independent Authority for Market Supervision and Consumer Protection.
