Serious water supply problems are affecting Hanioti in Kassandra, Halkidiki, making daily life increasingly difficult for residents and visitors as temperatures remain high and tourism reaches its summer peak.
Dry taps and low water pressure
In several parts of the settlement, taps have remained completely dry, while in others, water is flowing at extremely low pressure.
Residents and vacationers have been forced to buy bottled water even for basic needs, with reports indicating that the problem has persisted in some areas for at least a week.
The situation is particularly difficult for homes at higher elevations, where low pressure in the water network makes the supply problem even more severe.
Water tanks used to meet basic needs
Many permanent residents, as well as owners of vacation homes who have faced similar problems for years, have installed water tanks and reservoirs to ensure they can meet their basic needs.
The situation becomes more acute during the summer months, when Halkidiki is flooded with thousands of visitors, sharply increasing demand for water.
Authorities urge careful water use
Local authorities are urging residents and visitors to use water responsibly and avoid unnecessary consumption, particularly for irrigation.
At the same time, water service interruptions are being carried out during nighttime hours in an effort to preserve as much water as possible for daytime needs.
For residents and tourists in Hanioti, however, daily life remains difficult, as the lack of water in the middle of summer has become a serious problem for the area.
