Μake us preferred on Google A 42-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were arrested in Thessaloniki after police found 120 ice creams and 21 bottles of alcoholic beverages in three black backpacks they were carrying.
Police stopped the couple for a check and discovered the unusual haul when they opened the backpacks.
When officers asked where the products came from, the two suspects were unable to provide convincing explanations.
Authorities determined that the items had been taken shortly earlier from a local convenience store.
The couple was brought before judicial authorities, where they apologized for their actions.
The 42-year-old man, who authorities said had previously been involved in similar incidents, was sentenced to two years in prison without suspension. He was taken to prison following the ruling.
The 45-year-old woman was sentenced to one year in prison, with the sentence suspended. She was therefore released pending the appeal hearing.
