A tragic end to the disappearance case of 43-year-old Eleftheria Giakoumaki, a mother of three from Dafnes, Heraklion, whose trail went cold on the morning of last Sunday. A short while ago, her body was discovered inside her car — specifically in the back seat — bearing a gunshot wound, in the area of Aghia Varvara.
It is recalled that the woman had shown no signs of life since Sunday, while on Tuesday afternoon her former partner, who had been placed under the investigative spotlight in connection with the case, was also found dead. The man was discovered at the chapel of Panagia Kardiotissa.
“Live News” had obtained documentary footage showing the woman’s car in motion. As everything indicates, the 40-year-old was driving, while the murdered Eleftheria Giakoumaki was in the back seat.
Her Relationship with the 40-year-old
Giakoumaki, 43, had spoken to her brother about the intense conflicts she had with her partner — conflicts that ultimately drove her away from him.
“She broke up with her partner two months ago. There were tensions while they were together, but afterwards she hadn’t told me that he was bothering her or anything like that. He had left us in peace.”
He was someone she had met within the past year. She rarely spoke about him, and it was only when they first broke up last August that the 43-year-old told those close to her how relieved she was that the relationship had ended.
“I didn’t want to put her in a difficult position from the moment she told me they had ended their relationship. That was in August 2025, when she mentioned their first breakup to me — because afterwards they got back together.”
The reconciliation, however, lasted only a few months. Their final separation coincided with the loss of her father, something that — as it appears — took a heavy toll on her.
