Holy Thursday marks the last day of the Holy Week when retail shops across Greece operate with extended shopping hours. This adjustment in schedule precedes Good Friday, which is a mandatory half-day for shops in the country.

Retail and Supermarket Hours on Holy Thursday

On Holy Thursday, commercial stores will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., while supermarkets will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., giving consumers a full day to complete their Easter shopping.

Limited Hours on Good Friday

On Good Friday, store openings are delayed out of respect for the religious observances of the day. Shops begin operations after the traditional Deposition from the Cross service, opening at 1:00 p.m. and closing at 7:00 p.m.

Supermarkets also open at 1:00 p.m., though closing times vary by chain:
