A 52-year-old Israeli producer and creator of the hit drama series Tehran, Dana Eden, was found dead Sunday afternoon in her room at a central hotel in Athens, prompting a police investigation and a forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Eden was discovered unresponsive in a fifth-floor room at a hotel in the downtown Syntagma Square area by her brother, who had been trying to reach her after she failed to respond to his messages. She had been staying at the hotel since Feb. 4 while filming the fourth season of Tehran in Greece, a complex production that Eden was personally overseeing, according to Israel’s public Kan channel.

Initial reports suggest the death may have been a suicide. Authorities said Eden had bruises on her neck and lower limbs, and multiple pills were found in the room. A medical examiner has been called to the scene, and an autopsy has been ordered to clarify the exact cause of death.

Local police are examining all possibilities, collecting footage from hotel security cameras, and taking statements from hotel staff as part of the ongoing investigation. Early reports indicate no signs of foul play, though authorities are investigating all scenarios.

Tehran, which tells the story of a Mossad agent in the Iranian capital, is also available on Apple TV, which released its third season last month.

During her career, Eden collaborated with producer Shula Spiegel through their company, Donna and Shula Productions, which produced Tehran and many of Eden’s other works. She was recognized as one of Israel’s most productive and successful television producers, having worked on series including Saving the Wildlife, She Has It, Magpie, and Shakshouka.
