According to initial reports, her daughter buried her in the garden in order to keep illegally collecting her pension, as she admitted to authorities.

Accounts from people who lived near the family paint a picture of complete isolation. “We’re in shock, they weren’t quite right, they only went out at night,” said one resident living across from the house, describing a family that had cut off all contact with the outside world.
