A violent attack involving dozens of youths has led to multiple arrests after a groups of teenagers was assaulted and robbed in a suburb east of Athens.
The incident took place on Friday, May 29, when a group of approximately 30 individuals, including minors, approached a group of teenagers gathered in a public square. According to authorities, the suspects initially threatened the youths before the confrontation quickly escalated.
During the attack, one of the assailants struck two teenagers aged 16 and 17 with their hands and clubs. The group then reportedly stole a pair of athletic shoes worth €150 from another teen before fleeing the scene.
Police officers responded immediately and launched a search operation to locate those involved.
Upon fleeing the group left behind one of the clubs, which was confiscated as evidence. A vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects during their escape was later found near a local cemetery, providing investigators with a key lead in the case.
Authorities subsequently arrested nine individuals. Criminal charges have been filed against them, including dangerous bodily harm, violations of weapons legislation, and robbery committed jointly with others.
The suspects were taken before the relevant judicial authorities.
