An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was recorded at 19.18 (17.18 GMT) on Friday afternoon in a sea region 13 kilometers south-southwest of the southern Cyclades Island of Amorgos, according to the Geodynamic Institute of Athens.

The quake had an epicenter of 15.6 kilometers.

The tremor was located in the exact area where a “seismic swarm” erupted in late January and continued until February earlier this year, i.e. in the sea region roughly between the islands of Amorgos, Santorini, Anafi and Ios.

Earlier, another mild earthquake rocked the large island of Crete on Friday, with the tremor measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale.

The quake was recorded at 16.53 (14.53 GMT), with an epicenter 42 kilometers southwest of the township of Paleochora, and at a depth of 20.6 kilometers.

No damages were reported on Friday.
