A father has spoken out about his child’s severe addiction to social media, which ultimately required treatment in a rehabilitation clinic after the teenager’s behavior deteriorated dramatically and disrupted family life.
In a testimony shared in a television report, the father described how his child became increasingly isolated, spending long hours awake at night on a mobile phone while withdrawing from everyday interaction and ignoring communication attempts from family members.
According to him, the teenager’s behavior changed drastically over time. The child reportedly used offensive language, reacted aggressively, and at times threw objects when the phone was taken away, indicating a level of dependence the family struggled to manage.
The father compared the situation to substance addiction, saying the child would behave as if in withdrawal whenever access to the device was restricted. He described a constant cycle of conflict at home, with sleep disrupted and daily routines severely affected.
He also said the teenager appeared entirely disengaged during conversations, often failing to respond and remaining fully absorbed in the digital environment. Attempts to limit usage led to intense outbursts, further escalating tensions within the household.
Faced with the worsening situation, the family eventually sought specialized help, leading to the child’s admission to a rehabilitation clinic focused on behavioral addiction linked to social media use.
The father reported that, following treatment, the teenager has shown significant improvement and has returned to a more stable daily routine, including better performance in school and restored family interaction.
