Traffic regulations will be implemented on Thursday morning around the Parliament and Syntagma Square in downtown Athens during the swearing-in ceremony of the new President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tassoulas.
According to a statement from the Traffic Police, “as part of the swearing-in ceremony of the new President of the Hellenic Republic tomorrow (13-3-2025), temporary traffic regulations (road closures, parking and stopping restrictions) will be in effect in the wider area of central Athens, around Syntagma Square and the Presidential Mansion, from 10:30 AM until the end of the event.”
Closed Metro Stations
By order of the Hellenic Police, the “Panepistimio” Metro station will close at 9:00 AM, and “Syntagma” station will close at 10:00 AM. Trains will pass through these stations without stopping, according to an announcement from Urban Rail Transport (STASY).
The Ceremony
The new President of the Republic will be welcomed at the Parliament, at the entrance of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Speaker of the House, Nikitas Kaklamanis.
At the monument, honor guards from the Armed Forces will be lined up for an inspection by the President of the Republic.
After the swearing-in ceremony, President Konstantinos Tassoulas will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
He will then proceed to the Presidential Mansion on Herodou Attikou Street, where he will be received by the outgoing President, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
