Greek police have identified the woman whose body was found inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in the Athens neighborhood of Kypseli, bringing an end to the mystery surrounding the victim’s identity.

Authorities, working in cooperation with Interpol, confirmed on Monday, July 27, that the victim was a 38-year-old British national who had traveled to Greece via Cyprus.

The woman’s body was discovered inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in Kypseli, prompting an extensive police investigation and forensic examination to establish her identity.

Investigators determined through fingerprint analysis that the victim was not registered in the Greek police database, while no relatives had reported her missing to any police station in Greece.

Greek authorities subsequently sought assistance from Interpol and law enforcement agencies in other countries. Investigators also considered the possibility that the woman was not Greek after noting that she was wearing shorts bearing the name of a French university.

On Monday evening, Interpol informed the Hellenic Police that the victim had been identified as the British woman.

The investigation is now focused on reconstructing her movements after arriving in Greece. Authorities are examining whether she traveled alone or with another person, while information from the airline she used is expected to help clarify the details of her journey.

Greek and Cypriot authorities are expected to exchange information in an effort to identify and locate the person responsible for abandoning the suitcase containing the woman’s body.

Police have not released additional details about the victim or the progress of the investigation.
