Greek center forward Stefanos Tzimas, 19, has moved to Premier League club Brighton FC after the “Seagulls” forked over 25 million euros to Bundesliga 2 German club FC Nürnberg in a five-year deal.
This transfer is the second-most expensive in Greek football history and the costliest ever for a forward. The former PAOK player has capitalized on his outstanding performance in Germany’s second division.
Kostas Manolas, who was transferred to Napoli from AC Roma for €36 million on July 1, 2019, holds the top spot.
The Greek prospect caught the eye of Brighton FC after bagging 10 goals in only 17 appearances in the German second-tier league. According to the deal, the young forward will continue to play in Germany until the end of the season before joining his new club in England, ahead of next season in summer.
The 1.84-cm-tall attacker, who has five caps with the Greek U21 team, will join three other Greeks in the world’s top club football league: Kostas Tsimikas at Liverpool, Odysseas Vlachodimos at Newcastle, and Konstantinos Mavropanos at West Ham United.
Tzimas was born in Thessaloniki and started his career at the academy of one of Greece’s top clubs, PAOK FC before moving to FC Nürnberg.
Stefanos Tzimas stands out for his natural scoring ability, his exceptional agility, and great technique with the ball at his feet.
