Greek superstar Miltiadis Tentoglou once again proved why he’s considered one of the premier athletes in the world, claiming first place in the long jump, on Sunday evening, at the European Team Championships held in Madrid. His stellar performance not only secured him the top podium spot but also kept Greece in the fight, contributing a crucial 16 points to the national tally.

Day three of the competition kicked off in the best possible way for the Greek contingent, as Tentoglou delivered a stunning leap of 8.46 meters—setting a new championship record and registering the world’s best mark for 2025 so far.

Tentoglou opened his series with a solid 8.15m, but it was his second attempt that lit up the track, as he soared to 8.46m. Notably, the reigning Olympic champion didn’t even hit the takeoff board cleanly, missing by an estimated 14 centimeters—making the achievement even more remarkable.

This jump now ranks as the 8th best of his career, while it also shattered the previous championship record of 8.38m that he himself set in 2021.

His third attempt was a foul, but he quickly bounced back with another world-class leap of 8.44m in his fourth try. With his job done, Tentoglou opted to skip his final two attempts, finishing with three valid jumps and one foul.
