A deadly Israeli airstrike targeted an internet café in Gaza on Monday, resulting in numerous casualties as the conflict in the region intensifies. According to medical sources in Gaza, at least 24 people were killed in the strike, which also injured dozens more. The internet café, located along the Gaza coastline, is a popular spot for locals, offering drinks, family spaces, and internet access.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying, with bodies and debris scattered around, injured individuals seeking help, and families mourning their losses. Among the victims was Ismail Abu Hatab, a photojournalist, confirmed by the media office of Hamas.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the strike targeted several Hamas militants, responsible for attacks against Israel that sparked the ongoing conflict. The IDF also said precautions were taken before the strike, including aerial surveillance to minimize civilian casualties, though the incident remains under investigation.

In addition to the internet café, Israeli air raids hit areas near humanitarian aid distribution centers, where at least 11 people were reportedly killed. The continued bombardments have drawn condemnation from Hamas, which denounces the attacks as a major escalation against defenseless civilians.

Calls for a ceasefire in Gaza persist, following a temporary truce that ended a recent 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran-backed groups. Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has expressed that continuing the war only causes harm on security, political, and economic levels, a view reportedly shared by the Israeli military.

Qatar, playing a key role in indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel, has indicated conditions are favorable to resume talks. Meanwhile, Israel’s Defense Minister stated that the military campaign in Gaza is nearing its completion, with objectives focused on freeing hostages and defeating Hamas.

On the diplomatic front, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with U.S. officials at the White House on July 7, as discussions on the conflict and ceasefire efforts continue.
