Turkish customs authorities seized over a ton of narcotics hidden inside a truck at the Greek border this week, officials announced. According to Turkey’s Ministry of Trade, the haul, with an estimated street value exceeding 55 million euros, was discovered at the Ipsala border crossing in northwestern Turkey and consisted primarily of methamphetamine, heroin, and raw opium.

When AFP asked about the origin of the drugs, Turkish customs did not respond immediately. According to the private news agencies DHA and IHA, the truck had arrived from Iran.

Turkish authorities have reported that over the course of 2025 they confiscated a total of 33.6 tons of narcotics with a combined street value of nearly 840 million euros.
