A torrential rainfall fell on the well-known Cyclades Island of Paros on Thursday, with eyewitnesses taking to social media to post videos of the downpour.
The most intense rainfall lasted for 15 minutes and coincided with the departure of a passenger ferry from the island’s main port.
According to local media, 15 millimeters of precipitation fell roughly 15 minutes.

So far this autumn (September and most of October), the rainfall on the specific island has reached 80 millimeters, a welcome development by most accounts, given that Paros – along with several other islands – was on the verge of a water shortage. The latter is due to lower rainfall over the past few years and skyrocketing tourism flows and development.
